Infobip at Meeting G2.9 – In the Latin American market, the diaspora has been a great help to us!
With great pleasure, we announce the participation of the Croatian unicorn, INFOBIP, at Meeting G2.9.
This is not the first time that one of the strongest Croatian companies has joined us. We had the pleasure of talking to Ante Kušurin and Mario Ančić during MG2.6 and MG2.7 in 2020 and 2021. Those were two years of online conferences and discussions.
So, we are especially pleased that Boris Pogačnik will be our guest at the Conference, serving as one of the key speakers, sharing his journey with Infobip.
Boris joined Infobip at a time when the strategy to expand into international markets was adopted in early spring 2010. “Although initially, we were convinced that Miami (FL) was an excellent launching pad for the Latin American markets, we quickly realized the situation was quite the opposite. Latin American companies were using Miami as a gateway to the large U.S. market. Therefore, we decided to be closer to our customers, conducting a three-week roadshow in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, visiting clients we had never met in person before. We quickly adapted and chose Buenos Aires as our first stop. The factors that most influenced our choice of the first location were the cost of doing business, potential, and the familiar culture. Of course, the presence of diplomatic representation helped us connect with the diaspora, which was especially helpful in Bolivia and Peru in the initial phase, and later in Ecuador.
Even today, more than 10 years later, these connections remain strong because we consider ourselves a part of the broader Croatian family around the world.”
This is just a glimpse of what Boris has in store for us in Sisak. We can’t wait to hear the full story of INFOBIP’s success and the role of the diaspora in that journey.
Boris was the first envoy to South America, and in 13 years of presence in Latin American countries, Infobip has built a team of over 400 people in 7 locations, contributing to nearly 25% of the group’s total revenue, with the fastest growth compared to other global regions. Infobip currently operates in 60 countries from 74 offices with a total of 3,500 employees, of which around 1,350 are in Croatia!
“As the first Croatian unicorn, we are especially proud of the fact that we realized our first investment in 2020 (14 years after founding), when we already had a developed network of partners and teams, and we used it for inorganic growth, primarily in the U.S. market.”
Today, Infobip is a global cloud communication platform used by the largest global companies, smaller regional groups, and smaller entities for communicating with their customers (24/7/365). “Our mission is to bring innovation to communication technologies to democratize and simplify the communication between businesses and their customers.”
Let’s donate – and help Croatian youth
With the idea that even the great ones were once small, that among today’s students, there are future doctors, lawyers, builders, innovators, opera singers, or new humanitarians – who will grow into people, experts, and humanitarians capable of helping children born with difficulties and facing more obstacles on their life path, Meeting G2 this year decided to connect these two stories, two challenging journeys, and support, on one hand, the “Prsten” Foundation, which has a special mission – to lend a helping hand and ease the burden so students can embark on the path of knowledge with less baggage and build a better future tomorrow, and on the other hand, the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Sisak-Moslavina County for the construction of a new “Room of Wonders” in Sisak, a facility for sensory therapy for children with developmental disabilities.
Unfortunately, the “Room of Wonders” was destroyed by a catastrophic earthquake, but the will of our dear citizens of Sisak has not been shattered – and that’s why the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Sisak-Moslavina County is doing everything in its power to restore faith in miracles to the children and bring joy back into their daily lives – let’s help them with that!
The Association of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina “Prsten” was founded in 2005 in Zagreb as a non-political and non-profit organization that promotes and protects the tradition, culture, economic cooperation, and humanitarian work of Croats in the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through the “Prsten” Foundation, approximately 400 scholarships have been awarded over 15 years, with around 3.5 million kuna invested.
